Spiritual Moms - Week 5
June 24 - June 30, Week 5
Week 5 Courses: As the course on Authentic Manhood with Christ the Priest continues, seminarians enjoy a long weekend from Friday morning through Monday evening.
Seminarians begin their apostolic service (for the next five weeks) which includes visits to local nursing homes, hospitals and assisting with various other opportunities for service in the local community.
Seminarians have a Day of Prayer on Wednesday, June 27th when silence is observed.
Week 5 - Prayer Intention: To make a good beginning for the apostolic service experience
"What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops." Matthew 10:27
For the next 5 weeks, seminarians will make visits to apostolic sites as part of their summer at IPF. Currently there are 37 sites, ranging from hospitals to nursing homes to rehab and trauma centers. Each site has between 2 and 12 seminarians who make their visit twice a week to work and grow in their experience of pastoral ministry. They meet with the apostolic site supervisor, and are then given tasks. These can include playing music, leading prayer groups in the rosary, visiting pastorally with patients, lending a listening ear, or otherwise joining in on location activities. This apostolic service ties in a practical, hands-on element that seminarians can use to exercise the academic and spiritual concepts they've learned in the classroom.
