2017 Celebration of Priesthood
It is with great pleasure and anticipation that The Institute for Priestly Formation announces its Celebration of Priesthood Banquet to support programs promoting spiritual formation of diocesan seminarians and priests. This will be the fourteenth year of this distinguished event celebrating the unique charism of the diocesan priesthood, and it promises to be a exceptional, not-to-be missed event! The 2017 Celebration of Priesthood Banquet will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 in the Mainelli Center at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific Street, Omaha, NE. It will begin with a Social at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the Award presentation at 7:15 p.m.

Our format includes a time for cocktails and fellowship, a scrumptious dinner amidst great company, inspiring testimonies from IPF alumni and of course, the highlight of the evening, the presentation of the Saint John Paul II Award for Priestly Service. This year we are particularly excited to honor Fr. Patrick O'Kane from the Diocese of Sioux City.
The evening is sure to be filled with warmth and friendship, but most importantly, the opportunity to honor a beautiful life of service and celebrate the unique charism of the diocesan priesthood.
The Celebration of Priesthood is also the largest fundraiser of the year for IPF. The proceeds from this event directly benefit seminarians and priests from across our country, and beyond. IPF is the only institute dedicated exclusively to assisting bishops in the spiritual formation of seminarians and priests. Pope Francis may have said it best, “Priests are not mushrooms that just pop out of the cathedral on the day of ordination.” Spiritual formation is fundamental to equipping priests to live a life of union with God. Without the abiding presence of God in their life, how can a priest lead his congregation into a deeper encounter with Jesus? To continue our important service to the bishops, we need your help. Please join us on April 20th to celebrate the priesthood of the Roman Catholic Church.
IPF was founded on the principle that spiritual formation is the governing aspect of all formation for the priesthood. We believe it is essential that a priest “fall in love and stay in love" with the Trinity. Jesus told us, “…apart from me you can do nothing” (Jn 15:5). Thank you for your kind consideration of our request. Your contribution will help to ensure the ongoing impact of IPF programs in the lives of seminarians and priests and will enable us to respond more effectively to the ever growing requests for assistance. A healthy priesthood is at the heart of the Church.
