Gift of Cash
Cash, checks and online donations are very popular methods of giving. Checks or money orders can be made payable to the Institute for Priestly Formation. To make an online gift, you may donate now.
Pope John Paul II Fund for Priests
Many individuals have honored priests who have affected their lives by opening or funding an IPF Pope John Paul II Fund for Priests account in the priest’s name. These donations are used by IPF to support the spiritual formation programs offered to diocesan seminarians and priests who have a deep desire for a closer relationship with Jesus, similar to the priests being honored. For more information, click here for the brochure and here for the reply cards which give more details on how you, too, can honor a priest who holds a special place in your heart. You may also add to or open an account with a credit card by going to the Pope John Paul II Fund button on this page; simply note which priest you are honoring.
Gift of Appreciated Stock
Gifts of stock offer a two-fold tax advantage. First, you receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date the gift is given. Second, you avoid paying the high capital gains tax on the increase of value of your stock. If you would like to make such a gift or know someone who is interested in doing so, contact the Mission Advancement office. As with all such gifts, we recommend that you consult your financial advisor.
Gift of Life Insurance
Name the Institute for Priestly Formation as both the owner and/or beneficiary of a life insurance policy. If the policy has a cash value, you may take a charitable deduction equal to the cash value of the policy at the time you make the gift. Payment of the annual premium can also be considered a charitable deduction. Consult your financial advisor to see if this gift plan works best for you.
Please remember the Institute for Priestly Formation in your will. Designating the Institute for Priestly Formation as a beneficiary in your will is a way to ensure that the mission of the Institute for Priestly Formation continues.
Other Legacy Gifts
Other options for planned gifts, that is, gifts that benefit the Institute for Priestly Formation at the time of the donor’s death, include living trust bequests and life insurance/IRA beneficiary designations. Please consult your financial advisor to see which gift plan works best for you.
- If you support the mission of the Institute for Priestly Formation, and elect this type of support for the future, contact our Mission Advancement office.
- If you have already named the Institute for Priestly Formation in your will, please notify the Mission Advancement office by mail, email or phone.
Many companies have an employee matching gift program. This means that an employee’s charitable gift is matched by the employer. Under these programs, you may be able to double, or even triple your donation!
- Participating companies generally require the employee to obtain the company’s matching gift form – usually from personnel or human resources offices. Check whether they match gifts to charitable and/or religious organizations. If you need further guidance, contact the Mission Advancement office.
