Ongoing Formation of Priests: The Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Institute for Priestly Formation welcomes you to this resource for priests. At the invitation of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life, and Vocations, the Institute for Priestly Formation, along with other organizations, is providing resources especially geared toward priests in their role as confessors. The initiative from the CCLV states: In response to the USCCB’s call to further implementation of the New Evangelization, the Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations (CCLV) has tasked itself with developing annual themes for the ongoing formation of priests and the New Evangelization. CCLV has chosen the Sacrament of Confession as the theme for 2014 and has identified three areas of special interest: (1) the priest as confessor, (2) the priest as penitent, and (3) the seal of confession. IPF provides the following text and audio files as reflections to draw priests into deeper communion with the Lord, particularly in the sacred beauty of the Sacrament of Confession.

IPF Mission

In collaboration with Catholic seminaries and dioceses, we form seminarians, priests, and bishops in holiness and accompany them in their ongoing spiritual growth, so they can more effectively lead others to Christ.
