For Vocation Directors

Many diocesan vocation directors are aware that the Institute for Priestly Formation provides programs for seminarians that complement the other areas of priestly formation in the seminary and in the diocese, and vocation directors have recognized how the IPF seminarians summer program directly affects the spiritual development of candidates for priesthood.

However, the Institute for Priestly Formation is also committed to the ongoing spiritual formation of diocesan vocation directors, in their unique and vital ministry within their dioceses. IPF serves diocesan vocation directors by helping them to:

• remain rooted in their own personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and in their identity as diocesan priests
• develop their capacity to teach others how to pray, especially those discerning their vocation to diocesan priesthood
• understand the dynamics of the discernment of spirits in the Church’s spiritual heritage for their own benefit and for those whom they assist
• witness the gift of priestly identity rooted in communion with Jesus Christ
